In the lesson, we are engaged with AR/VR technologies and their helps in education. For example, cultural ministry in Türkiye has a website that help you travel around the museums and artifacts around the Türkiye.
For our latest instructional technology assignment, my partners and I designed an immersive lesson plan titled "Exploring London: A Virtual Journey." The goal was to take A2-level high school students on a virtual trip to London. It allows them to visit landmarks like Big Ben and the British Museum without leaving their desks.
To share the workload, we divided the tasks based on our strengths. I focused on drafting the ASSURE lesson plan and ensuring the learning objectives were clear. Emin took charge of the questions and Enes created visual designs and our handout using Canva.
We utilized several great tools to create this experience. We used Canva to design the interactive handouts with links on it. For the content, we relied on 360stories for Tower Bridge, the UK Parliament’s virtual tour for Big Ben, and Google Arts & Culture for the British Museum.
I see immense potential for AR and VR in language teaching. It transforms passive learning into an active experience, significantly boosting student motivation. It allows students to visualize context in a way a textbook never could, making the "real world" accessible right inside the classroom.
