Using AI made me think deeply about writing and how technology is changing language learning. While working on my essay about Dexter Morgan, I realized that AI is more than just a helpful tool—it can be a partner in brainstorming, revising, and reflecting. AI helped me clarify my ideas and improve my writing. My first draft was okay but a bit casual and inconsistent in tone. With AI's help, I fixed my sentence structure, word choice, and overall flow. For example, changing “hides a darker side” to “leads a double life” made my introduction stronger and clearer. AI also helped me understand the difference between emotional and analytical language, which is important in academic writing. However, using AI had its challenges. It was tempting to rely too much on its suggestions because they seemed polished. I had to make sure I didn’t just copy the changes but actually learned from them. This reminded me that even though AI is helpful, we still need to actively write—asking questions, making changes, and understanding why. As a teacher or future teacher, I see the benefits of using AI in the classroom. For students who struggle with organizing ideas or grammar, AI gives instant feedback and clear examples. It lets them try out different things without pressure and see how language works in real-time. It can also help teachers by giving quicker feedback and showing good writing examples. But there are downsides too. If students rely too much on AI, they might skip important steps like thinking carefully, drafting on their own, and revising independently. Also, depending too heavily on AI suggestions could take away their unique voice or make their writing boring. So, it’s important to see AI as a support tool—not a replacement for putting in the effort. In short, working with AI made me more aware of my writing strengths and areas to work on. When used carefully and with guidance, AI can be a great help in teaching and learning languages—but only if we use it wisely and with clear goals in mind.
